New Appointment - Deputy Manager
Rutherford Hotel Nelson
Matthew Watkins has been appointed as deputy manager of Rutherford Hotel Nelson – A Heritage Hotel. He will be assisting the general manager Alexander Siebentritt in the hotel’s overall operations.
Matthew has a national diploma in hotel, catering and resort management from South Africa. He has well over a decade of experience in hotels from five-star resorts to five-star international convention venues and has also worked in Zambia and Botswana. A highlight of his career was overseeing the visit arrangements of the First Lady of the USA, Michelle Obama, in 2011 when he was the groups and conventions manager at the Gaborone International Convention Centre Botswana. “I am excited to make beautiful Nelson a home for myself and family, and to be working for such a major convention hotel. The capacity and quality of this facility is world class,” says Matthew.
Rutherford Hotel Nelson is a Qualmark silver-rated hotel located in the CBD on Trafalgar Square offering well-appointed accommodation rooms, two restaurants, a café, bar and extensive conference facilities for up to 700 people.
