Heritage Queenstown Wins Employer of the Year in Queenstown Business Awards

Heritage Queenstown has won the 2018 Westpac Queenstown Business Awards in the Queenstown Resort College’ Employer of the Year’ category. The win was announced at an industry event in Queenstown on 3 November.

“We are thrilled to win the employer category of these prestigious awards. In a seasonal resort town, attracting the right team and retaining them is critical to the success of the hotel guest experience,” says Mike Garvey the General Manager of Heritage Queenstown.

“The judges’ appreciation of how we look after our staff and local community is very important to us. This is encompassed in our company ‘H.O.P.E’ values of Honesty, Ownership, Passion and Empathy. We believe our unique philosophy keeps the team united and focussed on our mission to offer the most enriching Heritage experience for our guests,” says Mike Garvey.

Since its opening in 1996, Heritage Queenstown has set the standard for southern hospitality and received several awards on its journey. Just last week the hotel was honoured with a Qualmark Enviro Gold certification.

“We are doubly delighted with the achievements of the last few days. Sustainability is another important value that our team all take personal responsibility for. They give generously of their time to support local charities and take ownership of local clean ups of public reserves too,” adds Mike.

Heritage Queenstown currently employs 87 full time staff and has achieved well above-average staff engagement and participation levels.

Through constant innovation and a strong staff commitment to the Heritage guest experience, Heritage Queenstown has established itself as a highly respected hotel and conference venue.

The hotel enjoys superb lake and mountain views and boasts excellent facilities including well-appointed rooms and suites, Mackenzies restaurant and bar, an indoor-outdoor swimming pool, spa pool, health club and sauna. Of note is the hotel’s award winning Icon Room catering for up to 200 delegates.
