Twin Coast Cycle Trail

In the winterless Far North, you’ll pass through history-rich towns, wetlands, native forest and peaceful harbours.

Expect a range of landscapes and terrain on the Twin Coast Cycle Trail with the perfect mix of heritage and historically significant sites.

The ride itself follows cycle paths, boardwalks, suspension bridges and smooth rail trails. Ride in either direction (the most popular route being east to west), with the option to break it up into smaller return trips, or one-way with local shuttles to return you to your starting point.

With its close proximity to the deeply historic Waitangi, a true highlight of the ride is the opportunity to experience the rich Māori and colonial history that is so significant to New Zealand’s past and present.

The Twin Coast follows smooth cycle paths (graded 1-2) the majority of the way with some road sections and is suited to less experienced riders.
