Once you’ve had your fill of culture jump in a hire car and head out for a drive - you are headed to Larnach Castle - Aotearoa’s only castle and a fun and fascinating way to spend a couple of hours, including a stroll through the beautifully kept grounds.
Drive out to the Royal Albatross Centre on the end of the Otago Peninsula for dramatic scenery and check out the only place in the world where these fantastic birds nest and breed on a mainland. Or take a drive out to the end of the road on the other side of the Otago Harbour to Aramoana Beach and the Mole - a long breakwater that stretches out into the harbour entrance and from where you can spot fat sea lions and swooping albatross.
Another great spot is Moana Pool. It has a range of swimming areas as well as fitness facilities. It's great fun for families, with plenty of child-friendly areas and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
