Heritage Christchurch Resident Manager Appointed

Heritage and CityLife Hotels are delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Astrid Hay as the new Resident Manager of Heritage Christchurch. Astrid joins Heritage Christchurch from The George, Christchurch where she was Front Office Manager.

“I’m thrilled to be working for such a special hotel as the Heritage Christchurch. There is really nothing as unique as this property in the entire city. Its history and endurance is incredible and guests and locals are very fond of it. The facilities here are excellent from elegant self-contained suites, a fully-equipped health club and swimming pool, a popular restaurant and bar, all under one roof,” says Astrid.

Ms Hay has a held a number of roles in the hospitality industry beginning with Peppers Clearwater Resort as a trainee manager in 2007. She later held operational roles with Outrigger Noosa and Hyatt Regency Coolum. For two years she was a credit controller at the Crowne Plaza London, The City.

“It’s wonderful to be joining a respected New Zealand-based hotel group with 19 hotels across three brands nationwide. Heritage and CityLife Hotels are consistently innovating and have a strong strategic direction which makes it very exciting to be part of,” adds Astrid.

Heritage Christchurch set in the Old Government Building was designed by founding Christchurch architect, Joseph Clarkson Maddison. The building has been described of ‘monumental’ significance to Christchurch and is registered as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust register.

The hotel is a past recipient of the Christchurch Heritage Trust Built Heritage Award 2010, the New Zealand Seismic Award 2012 and received a highly commended in the tourism category 2014 in the Canterbury Heritage awards.

The hotel has recently been nominated as a finalist in the World Luxury Hotel Awards. The winners are announced in Qatar in late October.

 The luxurious Heritage Christchurch Hotel offers beautifully appointed one and two bedroom suites and a fully equipped health club with lap pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. Maddison’s restaurant and the OGB Bar are open to casual and in-house guests.
